Ok, I’m 18 years old and I’m looking at a new car to take to college. My parents want to buy a new car over used because they want something reliable with a good warranty. I originally wanted a SUV but its too impractical with gas and insurance. Out of all the sedans we’ve looked at and test driven the 2010 Nissan Altima 3.5SR is definitely my favorite. The one we are looking at is white with black leather interior. It also comes with all the premium packages (spoiler, fog lights, navigation, premium audio) so its VERY nice. The only thing that I can’t get out of my head is that the Altima is considered a “family sedan.” I know I shouldn’t base my decision off of this but as a teenager I can’t help but like something that is sporty and impressive. I really shouldn’t have anything to worry about because this particular Altima is very attractive. The coupe was also an option but I think I prefer the 4 door sedan because its just easier with friends and stuff in the back seat. I’m not trying to sound spoiled. This is a great car and if its what my parents decide on I would be very happy. I’m just looking for some opinions.

A: No one will be impressed at the look at the altima. they will be impressed, however, when you step on the gas and the V6 leaves them in the dust!

yeah the altima is a family sedan. but who cares? it has great power, (270hp) great interior, great reliability, it’s safe, and, like you said, you can fit lots of friends in the back comfortably. i’d say the car is somewhat sporty. i think it’s a very good choice

now if you want something sportier, go with the maxima. it has more power, (290hp) a tighter suspension, and it is a smaller 4 door than the altima. it also can come with all of the options you like too.

if you want something even smaller than that, there’s the nissan sentra se-r spec-v. (200hp) and yes, it too is a 4 door.

I’d also consider the honda accord v6 and the toyota camry se v6. but both of those are kinda boring. i’ve always preferred nissan for driving excitement

so in terms of fun, reliable, and roomy sport sedans, you have a lot of options. (my personal choice would be the maxima)

Im looking into the newer model Altimas, I was told that they now use a “push to start” button feature where you do not need to use a key. Do all of the Altimas use this (im mainly asking about the 2 door coups, 2009 and 2010 models)? Or do you need to purchase some type of package? Im looking into the leather seat package, and possibly -but highly unlikely- the tech package.

A: I-Key is standard equiptment after 2007 on all Altimas. The fully loaded Altima is really nice with I-pod adapter Navigation and hard drive radio sunroof and leather. Being able to control your I-pod from the steering wheel controls answer your phone and satilite linked Navigation really makes for a nice car.

A: list the pro’s and con’s of each vehicle? i dont think there is room. however i will give you my advice about these cars. in my opinion the honda is over rated as is the camery. the nissan tends to be overlooked, and the malibu and sonata are rated about right. all these are very good cars for daily drivers, but the jewel of the group is the ford fusion. it is under rated by the press, but it is a solid and reliable and long lasting car put out by ford. it is also very economical to run, and if you get the hybrid version, it gets even better, but you pay more for the hybrid.

in the end any of them would be a good choice. your best bet for choosing though is to drive each car and take notes about what YOU like and dislike about each car.

A: I agree with Roy. Speaker wire, large guage wire, fuse and fuse box/connector and make sure you get a box of coupler so the guy can connect the wires and lock them in. Also, you’ll want 2 sets of RCA cables. Once for each amp. I’d suggest getting a capacitor to ensure power so your battery won’t die out or work as hard. Hope I helped.

A: Of those listed, I would chose the Chevrolet Malibu. They look great, have great fuel economy, and GM quality is now at par with the best of the Japanese.

You might also consider the all-new Ford Fusion. It is, after all, Motor Trend’s Car of the Year.

A: You need to shop around. They all calculate their rates differently so the best company for me might not be the best one for you.

Q: keep the BMW or new Nissan Altima?
Right now I have a 2005 BMW 325i that we got used and its pushing 80,000 miles with no type of warranty. My brother is getting his license soon so my parents are going to have to get a new car anyway. Since I’ll be starting college in the fall and will be driving back and forth about and hour and a half on some weekends my parents want to give the BMW to my brother since he’ll still be driving locally for 2 more years and give me the new car with the warranty. My number one choice was a Toyota 4runner but its way too impractical with the gas mileage and insurance costs of an SUV. It would also have to be used because I don’t like the new ones. Today I test drove a 2010 Honda Accord EX-L and Nissan Altima 3.5SR. Hands down I liked the Nissan much better than the Honda because the transmission was much smoother. The Nissan also came with great packages and was really nice. Here comes the decision time. My parents said that if I REALLY want to keep the BMW I can. I just don’t know what to do because as far as luxury goes the Altima definitely has the BMW beat. My 325 is the most basic version and doesnt have the real leather seats or anything. Its mostly the BMW name that people freak out over. The main thing that I’ll miss about it is the sportiness I guess. I know thats not what I need to be basing my decision on but its just that you don’t really expect to see a teenage guy driving a car like this Altima and these types of sedans have always seemed more business and adult/family like. I kind of want something I can have a little fun in which is why I wanted the 4runner but I guess its just not practical. I keep going back and forth in my mind but everytime I see the Altima I fall in love with it again because its so nice then I always end up second guessing myself. Another thing I have to think about is getting something reliable. We’ve had a couple problems with the BMW and its never a cheap fix. I hope this all makes sense I was just wondering what yall thought.

A: Get the Nissan Altima for sure. The BMW has 80,000 miles on it; it’s not going to last too much longer. BMWs are not Mercedes or Ferraris; they wear out and die off like all other cars. Since you have a basic 2005 BMW 325i, its performance is really not one to brag about. Right now, since you’re going to be behind the wheel for long periods of time, you really don’t need a sporty car. What you need is a luxury car, to make those miles seem less tedious. The base performance behind that Nissan Altima SR (which btw is the Altima’s best trim) is decent 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder engine that produces 175 horsepower and 180 lb-ft. of torque and nets 23 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway. Personally, I suggest the more powerful 3.5-liter V6 or a 2.5-liter gas/electric hybrid that makes 158 horsepower and 162 lb-ft. of torque which also manages to get 35 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway. The numbers are pretty good compared your 2005 BMW 325i. The Nissan may not win in a race with the BMW, but at least the driver will come comfortably to the finish line (cuz of all of the luxury). And just to point out: in a race, the Nissan won’t be very far from the BMW.

I’m going to be spending around 27 thousand on this car so I want to make the right choice!

My personal favorite is the Lancer but the interior is a bit plain and the fuel efficiency isn’t that great.

The Altima’s interior is my least favorite (looks stupid)
The CSX’s and is one of my favorite interiors (because of the indash display)

A: It is all going to be personal preference, so this is kindof pointless. You are going to pick what you like regardless of what we say (and you should).

You don’t have to spend $27K on any of those vehicles. If you want a near luxury vehicle at a good price, take the CSX or TSX. If you want basic transportation, get the Forte or the Civic.

okay so im looking at 3 cars to decide which would be better as my first car .
this would sorta be my second car because my brother let me have his work car (2000 nissan sentra ) for a month since he was off a whole month . but he needed it back so technically it really wasnt my first car .
but im looking for something small , luxurious , 2 door (since im gonna be the only owner) , reliable , & average mpg , & automatic .
my dad drives a 2006 jaguar xj8 . hes always had jaguars but he has a work truck ( 1994 dodge dakota ) , but he uses that to go to work . & my mom has a 2004 infiniti g35 sedan . ive always droven infinitis & jaguars . i did drive the dodge a few times though . so i drove nothing but v8s & v6s , the first 4 cylinder car i drove was the sentra which was okay but i like the other ones better .
but anyways my 3 choices are :

2004-2006 infiniti g35 coupe . (havent heard anything bad about it )
2008-2010 nissan altima coupe (heard the steering wheel gets wild over 60 mph)
2008-2010 scion tc . (heard the road noise is terrible )

all those cars will be used , i dont want a new one . they also have the spoilers too .
btw my main source of having a car is for school , taking my neice (she lives with us) to school (she starts pre-k ) , going to work , & driving between my mom & dads house (my parents are divorced & i live with both of them & they live 30 mins away) . & pleaseee stop nagging me about getting auto . my brother lost his life due to a manual car & plus i never drove one so yeah . btw im 15 going on 16 if that helps & dont nag me about insurance my parents have that under control .

A: Well if you can afford to get any of those 3 for your first car then you probably want to test drive them yourself before I tell you which one to get.

I can tell you that the maintenance costs for the infiniti are through the roof. Let alone high performance parts that cost a shitload when they break. THERE, you’ve heard something bad.

I know your probably going to stick your nose up but if you wanted to you could look at the Hyundai Genesis Coupe. Hyundai is coming up. In the future they may rival toyota.

I dont know what else to recommend. Obviously the G35 is going to be the best from those 3. It’s also going to have the highest insurance, highest gas bill, maintenance, you name it. If you can afford it go for it. Might as well get ever penny out of each one of your parents I guess…

A: The Infiniti G35 coupe is a good first car. Its diffently a reliable luxury sports coupe. Nissan and Infiniti are both great auto manufacturers not to mention Nissan owns Infiniti which makes it 100 XX better. The G35 is a very attractive car and it executes a flawless and timeless design which has yet to look outdated even with the fact that its current and more attractive out going model, the G37 coupe, was completly redesigned in 2008. The 2004-2006 G35 coupe produces 280 HP (automatic) which is enough to keep you entertained but all the while keeping you in control of the car without having an exessive amount of power in your hands. The current out-going G37 coupe produces 330 HP which is a different story. In this segment, when compared to the G35 coupes older generation competitors such as the BMW 3 series coupe & Mercedes CLK coupe the Infiniti G35 diffently takes the tittle for class leading Horse power standard as it still continues to be in todays luxury market. The Infiniti has an impressive amount of power and thrill when compared to the 04-06 325i coupes with an engine that puts out a lousy 215 HP and the Mercedes Benz CLK coupe producing about 268 HP which a step up from the BMW but a step down from the Infiniti. Over all in terms of maintenance cost the average Infiniti vehicle cost about the same to maintain as a Lexus vehicle, not to say its “cheap” but its diffently more affordable to maintain opposed its German rivals. I would recommend the car among all luxury coupes in this segment. Go for it! Hope this helps.
